Campus Outreach National Alumni Conference

What is it?

We are excited about the first ever Campus Outreach National Alumni Conference. Please connect with us on Facebook here
We are providing an opportunity for Campus Outreach Alumni to join us Friday Night – Sunday morning, keeping it only two nights so that Alumni only have to use Friday as a travel day and can be back to work on Monday.

Why should I come?

  • We will provide special seminars and teaching geared towards alumni.
  • Speakers for the Alumni conference will be John Piper and Harry Reeder, Campus Outreach staff as well as other CO Alumni.
  • Connect with other alumni and past friends involved with Campus Outreach

What are the dates?

December 30 – January 1

How much does it cost?

$50 for the cost of the conference. You will need to provide your own lodging, transportation and meals. Since most of the hotels are close to capacity with students, we recommend booking your room soon.
Click on this link for a list of hotels that we have negotiated special rates for you.

How do I register?

You can register by clicking this link here. (Note: this is a different link than the one provided for students on the main page). If you need to get the password for this event, contact the regional office you were associated with in college.

Open House 2011

One of the keys to successfully mobilizing Laborers is helping them understand how they can multiply their lives through their God given SHAPE!
The word S.H.A.P.E. points to five specific characteristics:
Spiritual Gifts: A set of special abilities that God has given you to
share his love and serve others.
Heart: The special passions God has given you so that you can
glorify him on earth.
Abilities: The set of talents that God gave you when you were
born, which he also wants you to use to make an impact for him.
Personality: The special way God wired you to navigate life and
fulfill your unique Kingdom Purpose.
Experiences: Those parts of your past, both positive and painful,
which God intends to use in great ways.
The vast majority of our students do not continue to labor on the college campuses, but within the public sector. It is essential that we help them understand that their unique gifts are Christ's masterpiece and workmanship (Eph. 2:10) which He gave them for His good works! We are trying to do a better job of helping students of ALL SHAPES find their path toward fruitful Kingdom Service!

A few weeks ago we were able to host our first Open House here at the GRC. We had 8 students come and take part in the activities (picture above). They were able to get a good glimpse of the vision and mission of the GRC and see how they could make a valuable impact through working with Campus Outreach as a Resource Staff. We made some great connections and look forward to following up with them throughout the year.

Prayer Update!

Today as we debriefed with staff who just returned from China and Thailand I am again overwhelmed by the immensity of the harvest and the reality that the laborers are few! We need more Laborers! The sheer number of those who do not know Christ, who've never heard the truth of the Gospel. The reality of the darkness that holds them captive. The reality that despite generations of missionaries going out that there is still such a great darkness to be pierced with the light of the Gospel in this world. Seeing how God has used the last twenty years of ministry to see men and women be raised up and go out into the world as Christ's Laborers compels me to recommit myself to continue to build laborers on the campus for the lost world. It is truly worth it!

In Matthew 9 "Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.""

Please join with me to pray specifically for the places that the Lord is allowing us to directly pierce the darkness beyond our borders. The Campus Outreach ministries that are located around the U.S.A. send short-term Cross Cultural Project teams to partner with CO teams and other ministries in other countries during their summer break. These CCP teams ministered in the following countries this past summer:
  • Brisbane, Australia
  • Belo Horizonte, Brazil
  • China (2) Teams
  • India (2) Teams
  • Johannesburg, South Africa (5) Teams
  • Malasia/Singapore (2) Teams
  • Dunedin, New Zealand
  • KhonKean, Thailand
Pray that God would draw the fruit of the CCPs to Himself in each of these countries.
Pray that God would establish these new Christians solidly in their faith in Christ.
Pray God would raise up laborers through each of these ministries for His glory.
Pray God would mobilize laborers into His harvest field around the world!

Thank you for your partnership in "Building Laborers on the Campus for the Lost World!" We are truly grateful for you as we know that none of this would be possible without the Lord working through you in our lives!

Upcoming Events!

The next few months hold important events and meetings! Please pray with us through them!

September 17-18 - Recruiting Open House at the GRC. Jeff Schofield and Richard Phillips have invested many hours this summer visiting our Summer Beach Projects to share with students about the needs and opportunities to serve the Lord through Resourcing Gifts. The weekend will be dedicated to helping interested students better understand the needs of the Global Campus Outreach Movement and how their specific gifts can help move God's Kingdom forward. Pray for the Lord to raise up men and Women He desires to use to help take CO to the next level!

September 22-23 - Site visit for Global Staff Conference in Orlando, FL. Pray for us as we visit and negotiate with three properties for our upcoming Global Staff Conference site location. We obviously need an appropriate site, but we need to secure it at the best possible price as well!

September 30 - Monthly review of our quarterly planning and objectives. Pray God would grant us wisdom and understanding as we seek His will in each area of responsibility.

October 13-22 - Resource Group Meetings and Regional Directors Meetings in Atlanta, GA. Our offices will help facilitate these meetings and resource the Directors as they prepare and deploy their plans. Pray that God would lead and direct these men as they seek God's direction for the Campus Outreach ministry over the next year and beyond.

November 6-12 - Resource Directors Meeting and Conference in San Jose, CA. This will be a strategic time for all of our Resource Directors to meet as we evaluate the implementation of our Strategy and develop plans for the next year. Pray God would lead this time and continue to develop these key leaders who serve and lead the execution of the Regional Ministries!

December 28 - January 1 - National New Years Conference in Chattanooga, TN. This year all the stateside regional ministries will host their annual New Years Conference together for the first time since 2001. We expect some 5,000 students to participate including many who will come from our overseas ministries to participate. There are plans to run a parallel Alumni Conference at the same time with Alumni oriented seminars. God has brought together an awesome group of men to challenge and teach the students and staff: J.D. Greear, Chandler, Harry Reeder, and John Piper. There will also be a great show from Sho Baraka and Trip Lee. Pray God would change men and women's lives through His gospel. Pray men and women would dedicate their lives to living for Jesus and growing as His disciple!

Kicking Off the Fall!

Whew! Lots of things going on! It has been a world wind but we are thankful for the opportunities!

Support development this summer has been encouraging although slow. We entered the summer in a precarious position financially. We were in deficit and growing monthly. God has moved through many of you to help us on our way, however we still lack $1,000 of new monthly support needed to meet our responsibilities. Please continue to pray and trust with us that God would raise up 10 additional families who would partner through giving +/- $100 per month. Many current supporters have increased to help as well! I can't tell you how encouraging that has been! What a privilege laboring with you!

The kids are off to a great start in school this fall for the first time since we moved back from Brazil. The transition has been a challenge for them. Not only has it been different from one country to another, but changing schools three years in a row has taken its toll on them. This is the first year in four years that they will be returning to the same schools with pretty much the same friends! That creates some stability and known factors for them. They know what to expect and what's expected of them! Thank you Jesus for this new phase for them! Will you pray with us for God's protection and calling in their lives. Would they grow in the knowledge of His love and grace!

Most of you think of football when you think of the fall, but in our family soccer is king. We have three troopers playing soccer with Briarwood Soccer Club. Levi is playing U-13, John U-11, and Emmi U-10. I am even coaching Emmi's team for the first time. They are all doing well and growing as athletes and sportsmen. One note, Levi was invited to try out for the Soccer ODP (Olympic Development Program) and he made the team! Congratulations Levi!!!

Luke is kicking off the year with a new venture into Show Choir. It will be fun to see this develop and I know he will do a great job! He does enjoy being the center of attention at times!

Thank you so much for being involved in our ministry and our lives! We are truly grateful for you as we know that none of this would be possible without the Lord working through you in our lives!
